Tomorrow's the day

Well Tomorrow is April 28th , Colby's due date. So far, we've had no signs of his impending arrival. I am soo excited to welcome him to our family, I can't believe the time is almost here. Mandy will go crazy if he isn't here soon though! She is soo ready to be a mommy. I can't wait to watch her do her thing and I know she will be an amazing mother. :)

This is the first time I've mentioned it here, but Im training to run a marathon. Yes that right, >I< want to run a marathon...26.2 miles....ugh. I have been running since Thanksgiving day 2004 when I ran the Run to Feed The Hungry here in Sacramento with Sue, a friend of my wife's. Sue, her husband Raul and I have been running about 1 race a month right now to try to get ready for what would be a huge accomplishment in all our lives. It's pretty amazing though, I read about these races and they have special classes for runners over 200 lbs. Right now I check in at 264, down from about 290 when I ran the RTFH in Nov 2004. I want to lose another 50 or so pounds (Mandy doesnt want me to get "too skinny" but I would love to see a 1 in the hundreds column of the scale just once!)

Honestly I dont think my body could withstand running 26 miles at the weight I am at so it HAS to come off. I have a Half Marathon in October In Folsom, so that will be a great warm up for me to see how much work I still need to do. Mandy wants to get into it too once the baby is here and she can exercise again, but she's never been one to really NEED to exercise, shes been blessed with an amazing metabolism and that makes it tougher for me. I need to stay pretty strict to my diet and exercise routine to stay in a good place.

ok well thats all for now!

Any day now

Well its been a while since my last post. We have been very busy! Colby is due any day now actually. My wife, Mandy has been off work since yesterday and has no plans on going back. I am glad that we have that option, I really don't want someone else raising my child, ya know? Colby is due on Thursday, so We will see what happens!

Grand Canyon Christmas 2004 Posted by Hello

And away we go!

Hey there. This is my first attempt at anything even remotely like this. I am going to use this to chronicle my life and share my thoughts and feelings as I prepare for and welcome my first child into the world.

I'm very excited about this impending arrival. Maybe its because I have always wanted to be a dad, and maybe its because my wife and I have waited almost 5 years to have our first child (I am an insane planner and wanted to be ULTRA ready for our first little one).

I have to say though, the first thing I have learned is no amount of planning and preparing can prepare me for whats about to happen in my life.

Well thats it for now.
